What is hospice care?
Hospice care can occur when a person has a terminal illness and is likely to live six months or less. The physician or doctor determines if hospice is right and, with the family, makes decisions and plans for end-of-life care.
Hospice does not try to treat or cure a condition; instead, it focuses on comfort care. Palliative care, or care to reduce pain, often accompanies hospice care to provide the best quality of life. The attending doctor can continue to care for the person in hospice.
Hospice can be at a home or a nursing or assisted living facility.
Hanover Hospice works with the family and physicians to provide the best hospice care.
