What is hospice care?
Hospice care is end-of-life care when a person has a terminal illness and is expected to live six months or less. The physician or doctor determines if hospice makes sense, with the family engaged with the decision and planning.
Hospice care centers on giving comfort care, so it is not treatment to cure the condition. Palliative care, which reduces pain, is frequently combined with hospice care for the best quality of life. The attending physician can continue to care for the individual who is in hospice.
Hospice can be provided as in-home health care or at a nursing or assisted living facility.
To ensure the best care at any location, Hanover Hospice collaborates with the family and physicians.
