What is hospice care?
Hospice care is available when a person has a terminal illness and is expected to live six months or less. This end-of-life care is determined by the physician or doctor and the family is involved with the decision and planning.
The focus of hospice is comfort care, not to treat or cure the condition. Palliative care is often done with hospice care to reduce pain and provide the best quality of life. The attending physician can remain involved with the individual’s care.
Hospice can take place at a residence or at a nursing or assisted living facility.
To provide the best care, Hanover Hospice collaborates with the family and physicians wherever home is.
